Charkhi Dadri is a district located in southern Haryana 110 kilometres (68 mi) from the national capital of New Delhi. Folklore claims that the name "Dadri" is derived from a lake called Dadar. According to another anecdote, the place had a lake which was full of dadur (Sanskrit: frog) from which it took its current name.It is said that one day Dada Bilhan Singh, a descendant of Prithviraj Chauhan, came to this area and saw a cow and lion drinking water side by side.
